Maintenance Lead

The Maintenance Lead’s mission is to be responsible for all outcomes associated with the maintenance of their area. Working together with the Business Unit Leader and Process Lead as a focused team, to support the production line and ensure communication between operations and maintenance. Ensuring correct prioritization of maintenance activities and managing defects/failures.

Responsibilities:

  • Define standard processes and tools to handle defects (DH) and ensure that processes are executed properly to improve equipment reliability and performance
  • Define / execute on standards for Breakdown Elimination (BDE) and present breakdown status weekly at an tier meeting
  • Working closely with the process lead and business unit leader to maintain and improve line efficiencies as well as meet all line objectives
  • Monitor repair paths
  • Support operators in identifying and solving problems that caused breakdowns
  • Determine planned maintenance needs and prioritize / schedule the process for conducting planned maintenance
  • Share best practices with other Maintenance Leads
  • Ensure constant communication with the maintenance department to establish area priorities
  • Train and coach operators to handle different aspects of maintenance including DH and BDE
  • ​​Performance – Reduce negative impact of maintenance needs and machine reliability
  • Health & Safety – maintain a safe & secure work environment for all  employees​
  • Continuous Improvement -- foster a culture of continuous improvement and standardization 

Qualifications:

  • Technical Associate Degree or accredited apprenticeship program of the equivalent in a technical field preferred
  • Experience and understanding of Lean Production System principle
  • Participation in the implementation of a new program and experience with change management
  • Have a good understanding of recognized process management and continuous improvement methods and problem-solving tools
  • Experience leading and coaching teams
  • Knowledge / expertise in maintenance processes
  • Demonstrates good analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to drive insights
  • Demonstrates ability to overcome ambiguous and complex situations
  • Brings strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work well and communicate with others
  • Ability to train and transfer knowledge effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with SAP, considered an asset
