Role Summary
Reporting to the Senior Operational HR Director, the HR Director – Canada Operations is responsible for creating, recommending, and implementing innovative HR strategies to support the growth, performance, and evolving needs of Canadian plants. This strategic role involves close collaboration with operations management and local teams in a multisite context (5 plants), ensuring HR priorities are aligned with business objectives.


The incumbent plans, prepares, and leads the implementation of HR action plans, ensuring rigorous follow-up and measurement of their impact. They ensure that deployed initiatives effectively address workforce, selection, talent development, performance management, and continuous improvement of HR practices, while fostering a healthy and engaging work environment.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and recommend HR strategies to achieve plant objectives in collaboration with the Senior Director of Canadian Operations and management;
  • Manage the HR Business Partners (5) and support their respective teams;
  • Develop and support HR professionals in processes such as workforce planning, talent management, performance management, disability cases, benefits management, and collaborate on the continuous improvement of health and safety practices;
  • Define, monitor, and analyze key HR performance indicators (KPIs) to assess initiative effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and present recommendations to management;
  • Maintain close contact with plant managers to understand their operational realities;
  • Design and implement strategies for attracting, retaining, and developing talent, while promoting organizational culture;
  • Support management in performance management, succession planning, and compensation strategy;
  • Participate in organizational development projects;
  • Manage change and implement effective internal communication strategies

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND APTITUDES

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial relations, human resources, business administration, or any other specialty related to this position;
  • 10 years of generalist experience in human resources, preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing sector, including 5 years leading a team;
  • Experience in managing, planning, and implementing strategic change projects and initiatives in collaboration with organizational leaders and in a lean management environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and influencing ability, and aptitude for building relationships at all levels of the organization;
  • Proven achievements in collaborative contexts and demonstration of leadership, coaching abilities, tact, and diplomacy;
  • Fluent communication in French and English, both oral and written—this position requires communication with unilingual English-speaking clients and/or suppliers and regular collaboration with our plants in the United States and Ontario;
  • Proven problem-solving skills, prioritization, strong ability to balance urgency with the need to step back for informed decision-making;
  • Excellent judgment, sense of ethics and integrity, and ability to work in a constantly changing environment;
  • Enthusiastic team leader, highly motivated to create a positive and dynamic work environment;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Success Factor (an asset);
  • Available for travel to other Canadian plants (QC-ONT);
  • Professional certification with the CRHA-CRIA Order (an asset).
